Vanessa Bryant has shared a number of heartbreaking posts on Instagram with one revealing that her 13-year-old daughter Gianna’s basketball jersey has been retired by her school.
Kobe Bryant’s grief-stricken wife shared a photo and videos from a ceremony in which Harbor Day School vowed to not use the number two jersey again.
Vanessa, 37, wrote in the emotional Instagram post about her 13-year-old daughter who died in the helicopter crash that claimed the life of former NBA star Kobe: “mommy loves you to the moon and back.”
Vanessa posted an emotional tribute alongside a photo of a floral tribute to her daughter, which was in the school’s gym.
Red and pink flowers have been arranged to spell out ‘Gianna’ and Vanessa wrote: “My Gianna. God, I miss you.
“I’ve been so lucky to have woken up to see your gorgeous face and amazing smile for 13 years. I wish it would’ve been until my last breath.”
The floral arrangement included a number 2, which is what Gianna wore on her basketball jersey at the Mamba Sports Academy.
In the videos shared by Vanessa, it showed some of Gianna’s classmates singing in honour of the teenager, who was an 8th grader at the school.
Gianna’s basketball coach spoke during the tearful event, saying: “Gianna was a warrior who gave 110 percent every time she stepped on the floor.
“In my 20 years of coaching basketball, Gigi was one of the fiercest competitors that I’ve ever seen.”
Gianna and Kobe died in a tragic helicopter crash in foggy conditions over Calabasas, California on January 26.
The crash claimed the lives of seven other people – pilot Ara Zobayan, Sarah and Payton Chester, Christina Mauser, John Altobelli, his wife Keri Altobelli and their daughter, Alyssa Altobelli.
